INK FOR HOPE

A Spectrum of HOPE

by Mikee Garcia

History in the making

In 2009, Kythe-Ateneo in partnership with U! Happy events first launched the I AM HOPE Campaign at the Quezon City Memorial Circle. Over 400 people came to celebrate an afternoon of fun and laughter with pediatric cancer patients. A number of attendees also pledged to participate in Be Braved Get Shaved as an act of solidarity with the children. A year after, the I AM HOPE Amazing Race took place at the La Mesa Eco Park.  Participating teams competed with one another over a series of challenges and obstacles –all for a common cause.

On January 14 2012, for yet another time, kids and volunteers alike will gather together from 1-4pm at the Charito Planas Garden, Quezon City Memorial Circle. This year’s I AM HOPE: The Spectrum aims to serve as a sustainable source of hope just as the light is the source of the spectrum.

We invite you to take part and take heart in celebrating another year of life with the kids. Just like the spectrum which radiates various colors, let us show that we can shine regardless of where we come from.

The art of expression

Art has proven to be an effective therapeutic technique for all ages. This year, we aim to provide an environment that will allow the kids to freely and fully express themselves. Together with the kids, we dare you to channel your skills and unleash your inner creativity through the Big Art Attack. A fashion show and several booths will also be dedicated in showcasing handmade designs by the kids.

Ink for Hope

One simple act of kindness will go a long way. Help us foster a stronger sense of kinship by getting a henna tattoo of a kite. True to Kythe’s logo, we believe that kids should indeed be flying kites, not fighting cancer. As we continue to become a source of life by serving as a pillar of hope for the kids, we move hand in hand in their journey to recovery. Let us color their lives with hope and spark happiness through simple sharing and togetherness.
